In honor of Women’s History Month, we are delighted to feature Ginger Williams, MBA, a force in both the professional and the philanthropic landscape. As Vice President of Customer Service at OptumRx and Founder of Proodus Services, Ginger is not only a leader in her field but also an advocate for causes that uplift individuals and families in our communities.
Ginger Williams’ philanthropic journey is rooted in a passion for causes that improve the quality of life for all. In her career and personal life, Ginger has learned about the needs of diverse communities, realizing the importance of addressing the basics – food, clothing, health, and shelter. Her commitment extends to foundational pillars such as education, employment, financial literacy, and training, laying the groundwork for confidence and sustainability for future generations.
As a member of the United Way of Greater Kansas City Board of Trustees and the 211 Advisory Committee, Ginger draws upon her experience in 24/7 call center operations to contribute valuable insights. Serving on the Board of Directors for Community Services League, she enhances employee engagement and connection through her role on the Human Resource Committee. Ginger’s position as Vice Chair of the Kansas Volunteer Commission shows her commitment to community service and civic engagement.
For Ginger, philanthropy is more than financial donations – it involves sharing time, talent, and treasure. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, and a young single mother, Ginger understands the power of support and guidance. Her personal journey of healing has instilled in her a commitment to “Live in Purpose on Purpose” and to use her voice to advocate for others.
Her philanthropic inspiration comes from the incredible women in her life. Ginger’s grandmother, Louise, demonstrated the impact of service through volunteer work at their church. Ginger’s mother, Rita, despite battling Sarcoidosis, volunteered at various organizations, leaving a lasting positive impact on those she served.
Ginger’s latest endeavor is the launch of her new business, Proodus. “I have the opportunity to provide mentorship and coaching to women in support of their personal, professional and civic journeys. This will continue to be an offering for Prods in addition to business consulting services in the community and globally.”
Serving as a Women United Cabinet Member has been a transformative experience for Ginger. This role not only provides her with opportunities to network but also allows her to connect with talented individuals across multiple industries in the Kansas City metroplex. Through Women United, Ginger is part of a community that champions the advancement of women and early childhood development.
As a member of the Purses for Promise Committee, Ginger is excited for the annual event on April 18th at The Abbott. Her personal touch in selecting purses for the event reflects her commitment to making it a memorable experience. This year, Ginger plans to share the occasion with her daughters, Jasmine and Trysten, along with her daughter-in-law Ashley, creating new memories while supporting a meaningful cause.
Ginger’s dedication to community, resilience in the face of personal challenges, and commitment to empowering women showcase the impact of women in philanthropy. As we celebrate Ginger, let her story be a reminder of the positive change that can be achieved when women unite to make a difference in the lives of others.
