Thank you to the office of Representative Sharice Davids for meeting with our team to discuss the HELP Act.
The Human-services Emergency Logistics Program (HELP) Act is a bipartisan bill that would provide critical funding to support both 211 and 988 operations nationwide. United Way 211 is an information and referral service that’s free, confidential and available 24/7 to our community.
Todd Jordan, Ph.D., United Way’s Vice President of Community Impact & Executive Director of 211 shares how this legislation would establish connections between disadvantaged families and individuals with the necessary local resources. “The HELP Act will provide necessary resources to support the essential public good that is provided by 211 and will improve coordination between 988 and 911 to make sure people get the access to the help they need. We deeply appreciate the time with Representative David’s office and look forward to finding a way to increase support for 211, which has responded to 14,410 requests for assistance from the KS-03 in the last year.”
United Way Worldwide president and CEO, Angela F. Williams, shares more about the HELP Act with The Hill.
