KCATA REDUCED FARE BUS PASS PROGRAM

Are You Eligible for Half Fare? 

Bus riders who are 65 or over, a Medicare card holder, or a participant in Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Insurance or Veterans Administration disability compensation are eligible for KCATA’s reduced fare program.  Children ages 6-18 are also eligible (5 and under ride for free and do not need a bus pass). 

If you are approved for the program, it provides you with 50% fare when you use the Ride KC Go mobile app. 

How to Enroll: 

STEP 1: Download the Ride KC Go app 
Apple App Store for iPhone 
Google Play Store for Android 

STEP 2: Gather your documentation.
You will need a photo or digital copy of one item in group A and group B below.

  1.  Copy of a valid ID 

Driver’s license or non-driver state-issued ID, Kansas City Fountain Card, Passport. For children 6-18, current school year student ID or birth certificate.

  1. Proof of Eligibility 

You will need to select one eligibility category listed below and provide one document that shows you are eligible under that category.  The categories are listed in the application below and the documentation is described under each category.

STEP 3: Submit Your Application Below 

IF YOU ARE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN APPLYING FOR YOUR CHILD: Provide your child’s name on the application form BUT your email and cell phone so we may contact you about your child’s half fare pass.  There is a place later in the application for you to enter your name. 

STEP 4: You will receive a follow-up email or phone call from United Way within (5) business days.  

Please prioritize responding to follow-up questions for information promptly to ensure your reduced fare pass is not delayed. 

STEP 5: You will receive an email notifying you of the outcome of your request.
