Founded in 1987, Reconciliation Services (RS) expands access to essential social services, mental health care, affordable food access, and community-building initiatives for neighbors impacted by poverty through integrative programs including the REVEAL Social and Mental Health Services Program, Thelma’s Kitchen, RS’s pay-it-forward community cafe, and the Foster Grandparent Program.
Volunteer Information:
Volunteer Opportunities: The goal of RS’s volunteer program is to create opportunities for volunteers to work alongside program participants in ways that fosters dignity, conversation, shared understanding, and long-term community impact.
RS has the capacity to engage up to 15 volunteers at a time in structured volunteer opportunities, depending on the preferred format of collaboration. Opportunities may include hands-on service in Thelma’s Kitchen, participation in curated onsite projects, engagement through packaged service kits, or involvement in special events and advocacy initiatives aligned with community interests and individual availability.
RS is evolving its volunteer program to reflect a deeper understanding of our community, our clients, and the role volunteers play in lasting transformation. As REVEAL Works (our trauma-informed workforce development program offering paid employment, job training, and wraparound case management) has matured, we have developed greater clarity around how volunteer engagement can be most meaningful. This shift moves us away from operational dependency on volunteers and toward intentional, skill-aligned participation that strengthens the entire organization.
Volunteer opportunities now span Thelma’s Kitchen, the Foster Grandparent Program, community events, advocacy efforts, and special projects, offering multiple entry points based on interest, expertise, and availability. Packaged Group Service Kits are being developed for both onsite and offsite.
