Newhouse is the first domestic violence agency in the Kansas City metro region and the only one in its urban core. Established in 1971, Newhouse has grown from a four-bedroom home to a 104-bed, 26-room facility that builds systems change from the ground up.
Volunteer Information:
Opportunities for volunteering include administrative duties such as copying/printing, assembling informational packets, or sorting donations; at events with set up, checking in, serving refreshments, light cleaning, keeping items stocked, or assisting guests; with grounds and garden maintenance; in our year-round boutique with sorting items or cleaning up; in the kitchen with prepping, cooking, and cleaning up meals; or with our advocates, children’s team, and legal team providing administrative assistance.
Note: Individual and group volunteers must complete a background check, attend and complete orientation, Abuse Prevention training (if applicable), education and trauma training, hotline training (if applicable), and review and sign a confidentiality agreement and professional boundaries policy to protect and value the confidentiality of our survivors and families.
