Our Sunshine Committee event last Friday provided attendees with an inside look into the meaningful work done at The Children’s Place. The Children’s Place is Kansas City’s specialized trauma treatment center serving the mental health needs of young children since 1978. We had the opportunity to tour their agency and hear from their President & CEO, Ann Thomas: “The children who walk through our doors have often experienced layers of trauma—often 14 different traumatic experiences before the age of five. It is an extraordinary undertaking to provide the range of services and supports they need to heal. It’s because of folks like you, at United Way, that allow us to keep doing this important work. And we are so very thankful for your support.”
Rob Persaud, our Chief Strategy Officer & Chief of Staff, attended the event to learn more about the mission of The Children’s Place. “It is such an inspiring mission they have to serve the most vulnerable population of children and the way it’s been brought to life by the staff and this amazing facility. There’s such a sense of warmth, comfort and safety that The Children’s Place imbues. We’re lucky as a community to have it as a resource here in Kansas City.” Thank you for an insightful morning and allowing us to tour your wonderful space!
Our next Sunshine Committee is Friday, February 17 and we invite everyone to join us as we learn more about our Impact 100 organizations. Sign up here!
