In honor of Women’s History Month, we are delighted to spotlight Jana Souder. As a Managing Director at Deloitte and a member of the Women United cabinet, Jana’s commitment to service, mentorship, and empowerment reflects the impact that women can have on their communities.
Jana’s philanthropic experiences have often revolved around serving children. “A lot of my philanthropic experiences have involved serving children through volunteering to coach girls sports, serving as a big sister for Big Sisters/Big Brothers, volunteering in nurseries and serving as a mentor.” Jana believes that the small acts of kindness can accumulate into a significant impact, inspired by the heart and community-minded spirit of her grandmother.
Jana draws inspiration from her grandmother, who served as a positive influence and played a pivotal role in her community. “She served others in her everyday life in small ways. She was instrumental in her small community to support various families as they faced family illness or other challenges. She always served with a humble heart and her many small good deeds aggregated to an overall significant impact.” Her legacy of service has shaped Jana’s perspective on philanthropy, emphasizing the profound impact of compassion in creating a better world.
As a mother of three, causes that benefit children hold a special place in Jana’s heart. “Spending time volunteering at Operation Breakthrough was an eye opening experience that provided perspective on how important and impactful a safe environment is for young children.” Operation Breakthrough provided her with a firsthand understanding of the importance of a safe environment for young children. This experience has fueled Jana’s dedication to initiatives that prioritize the well-being and future success of the next generations.
Jana’s passion extends to supporting and empowering women. “It is so powerful to see women business leaders and entrepreneurs, and I always try to support them with my time and treasure.” Acknowledging the power of women in leadership and entrepreneurship, she actively lends her time and resources to championing their endeavors. Jana understands that by uplifting women, we contribute to the overall strength and prosperity of our communities.
Serving as a Women United Cabinet Member is a privilege for Jana. “I am most looking forward to working along with the other Cabinet members to support the advancement of early childhood development as I believe early life experiences are foundation to the success and health of our youngest Kansas Citians.”.
