Join United Way of Greater Kansas City for Seasons of Giving: Holiday Edition 2024. While your financial donations are crucial in order to make change happen in our community, you can also make an impact through volunteer hours and time.
We have partnered with several of our Impact 100 and Nonprofit Catalyst Grantee organizations throughout the holiday season to provide opportunities for community members to get involved and be a part of the impact firsthand.

reStart, Inc.
Date & Time: Tuesday, Dec 3 from 9am-11am

Volunteers will assist with kit building for shelter residents (bedding kits & laundry kits) and working with their team on mailers and thank you letters.
Need 15 volunteers! Street parking is available in front of the building or on the side of the building. No children under the age of 15. Volunteers will meet in the main lobby by our front desk.
CASA of Johnson and Wyandotte Counties
Date & Time: Tuesday, Dec 3 from 1pm-4pm

Volunteers will help with organizing/sorting and packing toys/gifts in preparation for their annual Holiday Party for children.
Need 10 volunteers! No age restriction, may be required to lift/move boxes of toys, comfortable attire suggested.
Newhouse
Date & Time: Wednesday, Dec 4 from 9:30am-11am
Address: Located about 7 minutes outside of Downtown KC. Exact address will be shared with those that sign up in order to protect the confidentiality of location.
Volunteers will do a winter craft with children in their onsite early learning center.
Need 6 volunteers! Volunteers must 18 or older, a confidentially agreement for the sake of our location and client identities will need to be signed upon arrival. This link has gate entry and parking info.
Cross-Lines Community Outreach
Date & Time: Wednesday, Dec 4 from 1:30pm-3:30pm
Address: 736 Shawnee Avenue KCK 66105
Volunteers will assist with cleaning and restocking in the Community Market.
Need 15 volunteers! No age restriction, liability waiver will be completed upon sign-in, parking is available in front of the building, comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes required.
Phoenix Family
Date & Time: Tuesday, Dec 10 from 1pm-3:30pm

Help make holiday magic by packing care packages to ensure every resident in a Phoenix Family community feels cared for during the holidays. During your volunteer shift, you will pack and distribute these care packages throughout the community.
Need 20 volunteers! Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. The senior communities tend to run warm. Festive attire is welcome! This is a great opportunity for teen and family groups. Volunteer waivers are required and will be provided in advance or are available the day of.
Mother’s Refuge hosted by Women United
Date & Time: Wednesday, Dec 11 from Noon-3pm
Address: 3721 S. Delridge, Independence, MO
Volunteers will assist with decorating for their Christmas Event! Decorate the enclosed trailer where ALL Christmas gifts for residents/aftercare program participants are stored. Help set up/decorate for a Christmas Party (for all current & former residents) inside their Maternity Home.
Need 20 volunteers! Street parking available, casual attire (weather appropriate).
Metro Lutheran Ministry
Date & Time: Thursday, Dec 12 from 8:30am-12:30pm, volunteers must stay for the entire duration of the time period

Volunteers will work at the Christmas Store. They will either shop with the clients, carry items out to the client’s cars, chat with clients while they wait, or man one of the Christmas store sections.
Need 10 volunteers! The liability waiver will be signed on site, children are welcome but there is a 2 to 1 ratio and children do not count as volunteers because they will be doing the same role as their adult. Most people wear comfortable shoes, jeans, a tshirt/hoodie (some people wear matching shirts or go all out with festive wear).
First Call
Date & Time: Friday, Dec 13 from 9am-12pm

Volunteers will be packing hygiene items into kits that we distribute directly to clients, as well as the general population through our partnership with the KC Library.
Need 20 volunteers! Youth under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult. Youth groups or students organizations need to have an adult leader onsite during the volunteer activity.
Synergy Services
Date & Time: Saturday, Dec 14 from 10:30am-1:00pm
Address: Synergy’s Youth Resiliency Center, 2001 NE Parvin Road, Kansas City, MO 64116
Volunteers will assist with setting up the Youth Campus annual Holiday Store. This is where clients can some shop and get the items they need. Not only for items for themselves, but gifts for others, so they can enjoy the holiday season a bit more. Volunteers will help sort, list, orgnazize and prep the gym and art studio as it is transformed into a store like atmosphere with holiday cheer.
Need 20 volunteers! No age restrictions, but youth 14 and younger should have an adult with them. Liability waiver provided upon registration. Plenty of parking onsite. Wear comfortable clothing that the volunteer would not mind getting a little dirty.
Kanbe’s Markets
Date & Time: Tuesday, Dec 17 from 9am-11:30am
Address: 3119 Terrace St, Kansas City, MO 64111
Volunteers will sort produce for distribution to area food pantries.
Need 15 volunteers! Enter on south side of Kanbes warehouse in the “Welcome Volunteers” door.
These events are open to all United Way supporters and community members – donor networks, corporate partners and general public!
