Meet our November Employee Campaign Manager (ECM) Spotlights: Al Garcia and Brandon Sisk of Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU)! Al is an Account Specialist and Brandon is a Project Engineer at BPU.
Brandon was inspired to join BPU’s Employee Foundation three years ago to contribute and make a positive impact on his community, joining Al who has been on the team for four years now.
As a problem solver and project manager in his everyday role, Brandon uses his skills to facilitate successful campaigns at BPU’s multiple locations.
The goals for their 2024 campaign included raising more donors and increasing their workplace’s giving amount. They successfully met their goals by raising overall participation among their employees! Their goals for next year include inviting guest speakers, a larger scale party, and more.
“We enjoy having the guest speakers join us in person,” said Al. Echoed by Brandon, he shared, “It is very eye opening to hear the different needs that are being addressed and how much impact even a few dollars can make.”
Corporate partners can learn about the causes they care most about by requesting engaging experiences like a panel session of nonprofit guest speakers to their workplace. Learn more here.
As an ECM, Al says it’s important for him to be an example to his fellow colleagues. As a corporate partner, he believes organizations should help one another.
Brandon shared, “It is important to me to help be the voice to try and not only continue the path forged by those before me but continue to grow the contributions from BPU each year.”
Brandon and Al have also volunteered outside of supporting United Way’s mission through their workplace campaign. Both have delivered turkey dinners to families in need, taken toys to their local school district office, and more.
“The BPU Employee Foundation is made up of employees at BPU who have a drive to give back to our community,” said Brandon. “The UW Campaign is one of the activities we help facilitate for the BPU employees to continue to be a helping hand in the community we all live.”
Al and Brandon’s commitment to supporting our community is truly inspiring and a testament to the power of collective impact. Stay tuned for more stories as we continue to highlight ECMs who are making a difference in our community.
