To honor the dedicated service of local volunteers, and in conjunction with National Volunteer Month in April, United Way of Greater Kansas City is once again encouraging everyone to nominate outstanding volunteers to be recognized as CommUNITY Volunteers of the year. Any volunteer is eligible for nomination, regardless of their affiliation with United Way and its partner organizations.
“Nonprofits across our region simply cannot do their important work with the support of compassionate, caring individuals who give of their time and talents to uplift our collective mission,” said Courtney Matthews, United Way events manager. “This is a time we can step back and offer our gratitude and recognition for their vital commitment toward a future where all can thrive.”

According to a recent Gallup poll, the majority of Americans support charitable causes, with two-thirds donating money to a nonprofit or religious organization in the past year and 63% volunteering their time. This is a significant rebound from major dips in volunteerism during the pandemic and the years following.
Nominations for this year’s CommUNITY Volunteer of the Year are open now through March 27. You can submit them here.
We’ll be celebrating these Waymakers™ on our social media channels on our social media channels and surprising winners during the month of April. (dates and winners to announced later).
