United Way of Greater Kansas City takes great pride in elevating the work of nonprofit, corporate and community partners through marketing, media, and public relations efforts.

In FY25 (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025), United Way’s local communications outreach work secured earned media mentions exceeding $15 million in valuation, reaching more than one billion audience members globally. Additionally, more than 50 donor communication emails reached thousands of individuals, storytelling content reached nearly 30,000 followers across all major social media platforms, we engaged more than 5,000 volunteers in community events, and reached thousands more through marketing efforts during corporate giving campaigns and with our Kansas City Current partnership.
These efforts were recognized by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Greater Kansas City Chapter during its annual PRISM Awards ceremony on October 16, 2025. The PRISM Awards recognize excellence in public campaigns, programs, and individual achievements within a specific region. This year’s entries were judged by the Eastern Michigan PRSA Chapter, and scores were based upon insight, planning, execution, and evaluation.
