Severe storms swept across parts of the Midwest and South during the weekend of May 16th.
In Missouri, neighbors in the St. Louis metro area are cleaning up from the devastation which impacted at least 5,000 structures. Early estimates put the damage at more than $1.6 billion. At least five deaths have been confirmed as of Monday.
Our partners at United Way of Greater St. Louis are playing a pivotal role in providing direct aid to those impacted by the storms. Individuals and families impacted who need assistance can contact 211, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to be connected with resources and immediate assistance.
United Way of Greater St. Louis emphasizes that no one should self-deploy to disaster areas. Unexpected volunteers may interfere with response and assessment efforts and could unintentionally put themselves or others at risk. If you would like to support the recovery efforts, volunteers can sign up to provide help where it’s needed here.
