As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we recognize the incredible contributions of women who have shaped our communities and paved the way for future generations. At United Way of Greater Kansas City, donor network Women United carries on this legacy by harnessing the power of philanthropy, advocacy, and volunteerism to uplift women and families in our community.
The Power of Women United
The Women United donor network was established locally in 2009 and continues to uplift women and make a positive impact on our area’s youngest residents. Dynamic and influential, these Waymakers™ are committed to advancing early childhood development in Kansas City through leadership, philanthropy, collaboration, and volunteerism.
We currently have 650 Women United members locally and Women United includes more than 55,000 members working with United Way chapters in more than 200 communities across the globe.

Through investments and partnerships, Women United supports initiatives for critical needs such as quality childcare, early learning and literacy, workforce development, and financial security programs. This year’s beneficiary of Purses for Promise, Women United’s largest annual fundraising event, is Turn the Page KC. This Impact 100 organization’s mission is to ensure everyone has the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. The donor network provides direct support and advocates for policies that promote equity and economic opportunity.
