Meet our May Employee Campaign Manager (ECM) Spotlight: Alex Dickerson of U.S. Bank!
Alex works as a Strategic Capabilities Planner in the payment services division at U.S. Bank where she guides and leads the execution of call center operations strategic initiatives. Alex has been an ECM since 2008 where at the time she worked at Bread Financial. After a United Way onsite immersive experience with KidsTLC in Olathe, Kansas, Alex knew she wanted to do more to make in impact in the community through her leadership role.
“The tangible experience of visiting TLC Kids and seeing firsthand just how important that resource and many other United Way agencies are to our community, is what truly inspired me to carry this passion through my career at U.S. Bank for the last 13 years,” she said.
Alex has volunteered for nonprofit organizations in many areas in the past, from financial literacy with elementary students to community park cleanup efforts and more. By growing up and seeing her small-town community supporting one another combined with her leadership development, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training, and hands-on project management experience, Alex’s background prepared her with the values and skills to manage and strategize effective engagement strategies for her workplace campaign. In addition, she serves on the U.S. Bank board as the Geographic Lead for her local employee business resource group, The Greater KC Development Network.
“Our chapter mission is to create local opportunities for employees to connect, share, and grow with each other and our communities,” she said.
Each year for U.S. Bank’s Employee Giving Campaign, they create a theme with the goal to provide ways for employees to participate through volunteerism, special events, and financial contributions. A couple examples of volunteer opportunities U.S. Bank employees have participated in include a care card volunteer event where volunteers created, printed, and folded hundreds of cards distributed to agencies in need, or a PB&J volunteer event where volunteers made over 1,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for reStart and Della Lamb Community Services. Through all of the hard work performed on their campaign last year, U.S. Bank broke their personal record for money raised and overall participation!
“I think partnering with United Way is a powerful resource to connect our organization to community needs, employee volunteer opportunities, and collectively strengthens our effectiveness at making a meaningful, positive change in our communities,” Alex shared.
Through her role as an ECM, Alex fulfills her passion for improving overall employee and community engagement. With a belief in a well-balanced life around home, work, and play, Alex has helped create Community Possible, a grant program supporting organizations that create stable jobs, affordable housing, and vibrant communities, for U.S. Bank employees and those who live within the communities they serve.
We are so grateful for Alex’s commitment to creating an engaging workplace campaign and are inspired by her dedication to helping others make a positive change in our community. Stay tuned for more motivating stories as we continue to shine a light on ECMs who represent what it means to be a Waymaker™.
