Giving Tuesday (November 28) is traditionally marked as a day to encourage philanthropic financial donations. United Way of Greater Kansas City encourages community members to consider using Giving Tuesday as an opportunity to give back to the community in other ways, too, through acts of service and volunteerism.
“We’re incredibly thankful for the outpouring of service so many in our community give to causes that matter to them,” said Brooke Tippin, United Way events director. “As we kick off our Seasons of Giving event, it’s an opportunity to showcase the generous heart of Kansas City and provide critical support to our nonprofit partners.”
Seasons of Giving is hosted by Leaders United, a donor network comprised of community members who pledge $1,000 or more to United Way each year. The group’s focused on encouraging community volunteerism. During Seasons of Giving, United Way works with Impact 100 and Nonprofit Catalyst Grant partner organizations to provide weekly volunteer opportunities to the public.
Pre-registration is required, and opportunities are filling quickly. More volunteer slots will be added as demand warrants. You can sign up online here.
United Way is thrilled to kick off this year’s Seasons of Giving with our community business partner, Sohaila’s Kitchen of Lenexa, Kan. The restaurant is donating 200 meals to Impact 100 partner Avenue of Life in Kansas City, Kan. on Tuesday Nov, 28.
About United Way of Greater Kansas City
At United Way of Greater Kansas City, our mission is to creatively deploy resources towards community betterment. We achieve this by working collaboratively with local partners on long-term solutions that remove barriers to social and economic mobility so that everyone, regardless of identity, income, or background – have the opportunity and access to a life of purpose, passion, and prosperity. Every year, 1 in 3 Kansas Citians find help through the United Way, and we continue to develop new and innovative ways to connect residents to the services, support and resources they need.
