United Way of Greater Kansas City is a community convener. We are passionate about bringing people together. We know that our collective impact—when everyone does their part, by volunteering, donating money, or advocating for change—we can make a big difference for our neighbors in need.
The main way we do that is through partnerships with more than 600 nonprofits across the Kansas City region. We serve six counties—two in Kansas, and four in Missouri. We also operate 211: a free phone number you can call to ask about assistance for all kinds of things and get referrals for more than 7,000 community services. It’s available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week just by calling 211 via phone or logging onto 211KC.org.
The other way we do this is by partnering with our local business community. We’re fortunate to have hundreds of businesses who pledge financial and volunteer support to us each year to keep our organization strong. We also have many small businesses who partner with us in other ways to give back. When we work with small businesses for our events and for branded merchandise, we’re intentional and passionate about directing resources to supporting minority-led companies.
In the summer of 2023, we launched a collaboration with MADE MOBB, a streetwear brand rooted in Kansas City, Mo. All products are created with Midwest values in mid: hard work, craftsmanship, culture and community. MADE MOBB has been a dream partnership—bringing United Way’s brand to life in a way that people are proud to wear.
Our Women United donor network is a group of female and female-identifying philanthropists who prioritize giving back and making a difference in our community, with a focus on early childhood education. Whenever we host events or do collaborations for this group, we make it our mission to work with women-owned businesses. United Way is thrilled to also now partner with paraMi to launch our Unidas for Change collection. paraMi in Spanish translates to for me. paraMi is for the brave, modern woman ready to lead the life she envisions. It’s an honor to work with this Kansas City Latina-owned apparel brand.
You can now support these incredible companies, and the work of United Way of Greater Kansas City at the same time through our new shoppable site. All proceeds will directly benefit our efforts to improve healthcare, enhance educational opportunity and empower economic mobility. United Way supports 1 in 3 Kansas Citians each year. Purchasing items from our shop keeps that mission going, helping us work towards a future that’s brighter for ALL.
