Last Friday, PNC Bank employees were invited to join a special Impact Bus Tour. Focused on Early Education, they had the opportunity to visit three of our Impact 100 organizations that are doing impactful work for children in Kansas City: Growing Futures Early Education Center, El Centro, and The Family Conservancy.
At each stop, they listened to agency staff discuss their impact further and how they are advancing education opportunities in our region. Growing Futures is a Head Start for children and families, providing quality early education opportunities and family support services for children in Johnson County, Kansas. Head Start programs are for children 0-5 and their families. Enrolled families also have access to a variety of comprehensive support services, including health and nutrition services, onsite play therapy, parent education, mental health, medical and dental health, family support and engagement opportunities.
At El Centro, PNC employees toured The Academy for Children located in Kansas City, Kansas. Their mission is to help Latino children develop a strong foundation for life-long learning. Many of the their students come from Spanish speaking homes, and they focus on literacy readiness for pre-school aged children. The support and services provided by The Academy for Children allows families to foster the important language and early literacy skills children need to become both strong readers and lifelong learners.
The last stop of the tour was at The Family Conservancy. Their mission is to empower Kansas City to raise happy, healthy, educated children by supporting families, parents, and teachers to prepare children for success in school and life. Their services include counseling, mental health care, child care referrals, and parenting resources. After touring their facilities, participants spent time volunteering and prepared 200 gift bags for their upcoming event.
Thank you to PNC for a wonderful day of community engagement!
