National Day of Service and Remembrance (9/11 Day)
In observance of 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, we encourage you to participate in acts of service that will recapture the spirit of unity that swept the nation over two decades ago. Plan to spend a day giving back to the community by volunteering with one of our partner agencies:
Bishop Sullivan Center – Kitchen and Food Pantry Assistant – Assist kitchen staff to maintain a generally clean, organized, and well labeled kitchen. Volunteer opportunities available daily, learn more here.
Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas – Refugee Move-Ins – Welcome and prepare a home for refugee families as they arrive in Kansas City. This and more opportunities available here.
Della Lamb Community Services – House to Home – Prepare a home for an arriving refugee family. Ongoing volunteer opportunities, learn more here.
Harvesters – Sort and Pack Food – Sort and box nonperishable food, pack produce, sort and box break, and repack ready to eat food and bulk products. One time volunteer opportunities available here.
KC CARE Health Center – Clinic Support Clerk – Assist in the clinic with paperwork processing, scanning and uploading documents to patient charts. Any 3 hour period once a week. Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Learn more here.
KC Mothers In Charge – Community Event Volunteer – Assist on September 24 with set up, signing in people, passing out candles, giving out food, and clean up. Sign up here.
Lead to Read – Read with an elementary student one lunch hour a week. Donate one, two, or four volunteer hours a month. Learn more here.
MOCSA (Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault) – Volunteer Advocate – Support survivors, Help callers on our 24-Hour Crisis Line, Help promote awareness of sexual violence in schools. Submit an application to become a MOCSA volunteer here.
The Single Mom KC – Process donations – Assist at their Clothed with Dignity Boutique. They are in need of friendly and caring women to greet single moms, help them shop, put merchandise in bags and do some light stocking. Learn more here.
