Temperatures will soar to the 90s this weekend, bringing another wave of dangerous heat.
This means higher than usual utility bills across the metro, adding financial pressure for many in our Kansas City community. United Way’s 211 service works with over 600 local agencies to provide utility assistance to those in need. In the past couple of weeks, calls to 211 have already increased by 35 percent. Impact 100 organization, Bishop Sullivan Center, has distributed 130 window AC units through their “Elder Cool” program for low-income seniors.
