NATIONAL POVERTY AWARENESS MONTH

January 5, 2023

January is National Poverty in America Awareness month and according to the US Census, the official poverty rate in 2021 was 11.6 percent, with 37.9 mil­lion people living in poverty in America. In Missouri alone, there are 772,992 people living below the poverty level, that’s enough people in fill GEHA stadium more than 10 times.

This month, we will highlight agencies in the Greater Kansas City area that are working every day to help those living in poverty and increase access to resources and services.
