Jeron L. Ravin, JD is President and CEO of Swope Health, an organization supported by UWGKC. Jeron learned early that you must use whatever power and influence you may have for a good, a bigger purpose. “Ironically, my mother was a former Enron employee. She was a Payroll Clerk. This is important because my mother had a ritual. Before direct deposit existed, we would drive to downtown Houston on Saturdays to cash her check. Once cashed, she would hand me or my brother the money and tell us to buy food for the unhoused population settled in front of the convenient stores downtown. She continued to do this in the face of our own family’s financial challenges as Enron dissolved and long after. I never forgot it.”
Jeron hopes that future generations of Black Kansas Citians are present in all places of influence. “That we shape the future of Kansas City, not as a spectator, but a valued contributor to a future forward Kansas City.”
