SUMMARY:SNAP into Action
DESCRIPTION:With the government shutdown halting SNAP benefits for hundreds of thousands of Missouri and Kansas families\, United Way is inviting community members and businesses to step up and get involved. \n\n\n\nApproximately 150\,000 people in the United Way of Greater Kansas City service area who rely on SNAP benefits will be impacted by this. While we are hopeful for a quick resolution that allows for SNAP benefit payments to be made quickly\, we recognize this may be an extremely difficult time for families who rely on these regular benefits to put food on the table. \n\n\n\n“We are deeply concerned about the detrimental impact to the health and wellbeing of everyday families who rely on these important nutrition benefits\,” said Jessica Blubaugh\, United Way Chief Philanthropy Officer. “No one should have to worry where their next meal will come from.” \n\n\n\nYou can help in a variety of ways. Visit the event website to RSVP and to learn more. \n\n\n\n*All funds raised from Snap Into Action will be used to purchase food; United Way of Greater Kansas City is not retaining any fees.

SUMMARY:United for Impact: Nonprofits Confronting Uncertainty Together
DESCRIPTION:The flurry of executive actions\, court rulings\, and policy changes in recent weeks have been a lot to process. We understand that many in our nonprofit community are facing potential challenges and uncertainty about what lies ahead and how all of it may impact those we serve. \n\n\n\nJoin United Way of Greater Kansas City for United for Impact: Nonprofits Confronting Uncertainty Together. This event is open exclusively to the nonprofit community\, so we can have a safe space for an open and honest conversation about the most pressing issues we’re up against. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Panel Discussion: State of the Sector will moderated by Nicole Jacobs Silvey -President\, Connection Coach KC; Lead Facilitator\, Board Diversity Initative. This will be an engaging discussion featuring expert panelists: \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n Lisa Hansen\, Lathrop GPM\n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n Dr. Micah Kubic\, ACLU of KS\n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n Keely Schneider\, Workforce Partnership\n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n Amy Blouin\, MO Budget Project\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will likely not leave this event with solutions to everything that’s happening. But we can be better informed\, better connected to one another and united in our resolve to work together and rise above. \n\n\n\nTwo individuals per nonprofit are permitted to register. Space is limited\, so we encourage you to act now and register. Registration for this event will close on April 9th. Please RSVP before then to save your spot.
