Kansas City Area Nonprofits Invited to Apply for Impact 100

September 14, 2026

United Way of Greater Kansas City is pleased to announce applications for this year’s Impact 100 grants are now open. Any nonprofit within United Way’s service area, operating within our primary health and human service areas may apply. These focus areas include: healthy community, youth opportunity, financial security and community resiliency.

The Impact 100 is United Way’s rigorous annual process of selecting the 100 organizations we will invest in and partner with to bring real-time solutions to our community.

Volunteers interested in supporting the process are encouraged to apply for roles as community advisory members, helping select organizations that will receive funding this year. Each Impact 100 organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) in good standing, meet a high bar of financial responsibility, and be actively working to address critical challenges facing the Kansas City region today. Impact 100 organizations will receive unrestricted funding from United Way to address their unique, pressing needs.

“The Impact 100 process helps United Way stay closely aligned with the evolving needs of our community,” said Essence Yancey, United Way Community Impact Director. “By bringing community leaders into the process, we gain the insight and perspective needed to guide thoughtful, inclusive grantmaking and move closer to a Kansas City where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Nonprofits must be principally located or provide services in the following counties to be eligible:

  • In Missouri: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte
  • In Kansas: Johnson, Miami, Wyandotte

Organizations who have applied for Impact 100 funding within the past three years will receive direct notification from United Way that the application portal is open again to them. For all other nonprofits, a screening form can be completed here.

Applications officially open September 14th and close October 16th. Organizations who are selected to receive funding will be notified in the spring of 2027.

Additionally, nonprofits wanting to learn more about the Impact 100 process are also invited to attend upcoming office hours:

  • Tuesday, September 15 | 1:30PM – 2:30PM
  • Tuesday, September 22 | 1PM – 2:00PM
  • Thursday, October 1 | 12PM – 1:00PM
