The Kansas City Public Schools Education Foundation is proud to announce the launch of KCPS Compass, a new employee support program created in partnership with United Way of Greater Kansas City.
No one is immune to tough times, and KCPS Compass helps employees navigate those unexpected turns through short-term financial assistance. Employees complete and application form and United Way manages the process, allocating assistance for those experiencing unexpected hardships and emergencies caused by disasters.
United Way’s 211 line is an additional way to connect those in need of housing, food, mental health, utility assistance, and other support with those resources.
“Everyone faces difficult seasons in life. The Compass Program is rooted in the belief that no one should have to navigate those moments alone,” said KCPS Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Collier. “We are deeply thankful to United Way and the KCPS Education Foundation for making this support possible for our employees. Together, we are strengthening our KCPS family and reinforcing our commitment to care for the people who make a difference in the lives of students every day.”
“We know that community well-being starts with the well-being of the people who live and work here. And a big part of that is ensuring our neighbors have the resources to weather an unexpected expense without falling into crisis,” said United Way of Greater Kansas City Chief Strategy Officer Jessica Blubaugh. “Employee assistance funds give working people a critical safety net when they need it most. United Way is proud to partner with Kansas City Public Schools to create a resource that supports employees, strengthens families and contributes to a more resilient community.”
