At Capitol Federal, Employee Campaign Managers (ECMs) Andrew Rentfrow and Michael Maxwell believe in the importance of investing in your community. Giving back is more than a workplace initiative, it’s a reflection of values they’ve carried throughout their lives.
Michael has been involved in Capitol Federal’s United Way campaign for 18 years, and Andrew is preparing for his second campaign season. Together, they help lead and bring creative ideas to life, including a popular themed raffle featuring gift baskets filled with items and experiences.
Michael said, “We usually have anywhere from six to eight baskets depending on how many are donated. People get really excited at the opportunity to win, whether they win or not.”
Looking ahead to this year’s campaign, they’re hopeful employees will increase their giving.
“I want to challenge everyone in my company to increase by 5% over the last year,” Michael said, noting that small increases can make a significant difference when combined with the company’s matching gifts.
Both Michael and Andrew see supporting United Way as a natural extension of Capitol Federal’s long-standing commitment to the communities it serves.
“Community involvement is one of the core parts of the company’s identity, and United Way does an amazing job at helping individuals locally,” said Andrew. “Any part that we can do to increase that impact is an immensely valuable opportunity.”
For Michael, being an ECM is about creating hope for others. Reflecting on a time when his own family received support from a community organization, he shared, “I will never forget the way they contributed to my life. The largest investment you can give might be minimal, but years down the road, it can have a big impact.”
Their shared commitment to service continues to inspire others to get involved, and we are thankful for their dedication to creating lasting impact. Learn about more ECMs making a difference through their workplace campaign here.
