Applying for United Way Funding

United Way of Greater Kansas City funds programs in the impact areas of Education, Income and Health offered by 501(c)(3) health and human services agencies in the Greater Kansas City areas.

Programs are funded by two distinct grant mechanisms:

1. Community Impact Program Funding
Grants from this fund are award for a three-year period and no less than $10,000 annually.

Although the funding period is for three years, grants for years two and three are contingent upon availability of funds raised during the annual fund raising campaign, and require compliance with annual reporting criteria.

Additionally, applicants are required to meet organizational and program eligibility criteria in order to submit proposals for grants from this fund.

An RFP for the funding cycle 2014-2016 will be issued in September of 2013. To be notified when the RFP is issued, click here to sign up.

2. Small Grant Funding
Grants from this fund are made annually to 501(c)(3) health and human service agencies with no current United Way of Greater Kansas City program funding, and with annual operating budgets of $500,000 or less. Grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 annually.

As with Community Impact funding, applicants must meet organizational and program eligibility requirements.
